簡介
張平先生（1926-2007），廣東雲浮人。年青時鑽硏繪畫，從事商業廣告設計和製作。五十歲後以攝影為業，在進行藝術創作的同時，還從事攝影教學。在畫意攝影方面，擅長運用傳統與現代之畫理章法，並創造出獨特的個人藝術風格。年屆七十八嵗，還學用Photoshop，以創作數碼影像作品，不斷努力，爭取在藝術成就方面更上一層樓。
張平先生曾於1998年及2005年兩度應邀在本館舉行展覽，觀眾反應熱烈，好評如潮。
這裏展出的是張平先生贈予本館的部份作品。我們希望藉本展再次表達對張平先生的敬意；亦讓科大同仁得以欣賞張平先生如詩如畫、傳統與創新並重的藝術造詣。
Introduction
Mr. Cheung Ping (1926 -2007) is a native of Yunfu in Guangdong Province. In his youth, he studied painting and worked in commercial advertising. During his fifties, he took up photography as a profession, engaging himself in creative endeavors while simultaneously teaching the art. He excelled in combining traditional and modern artistic theories and skills, and thus developed his own artistic style of picturesque photography. At the age of 78, he continued to strive for higher levels of achievement by learning to use Photoshop in order to create digital photos.
Mr. Cheung was invited to stage two solo exhibitions at the HKUST Library in 1998 and 2005. Both exhibitions received overwhelmingly positive responses.
The photos currently on display are part of Mr. Cheung Ping’s donations to our Library. Through this exhibition, we hope to once again show our great respect for Mr. Cheung, and to give our University community an opportunity to appreciate Mr. Cheung’s poetic and innovative art.
