Subject Librarians

Subject Librarians

Subject librarians are your first point of contact regarding library services. They provide research coaching, faculty orientation, offer course and subject specific library classes, and liaise with faculty members for archiving research in the Institutional Repository.

Lewis LiLewis Li (lblewis@ust.hk / 2358-6769)

I am a reference and instruction librarian at HKUST Library with collection development and liaison responsibilities for the Mathematics and Physics Departments. I enjoy what I am doing. My primary objective is to work closely with faculty, staff and students, one-on-one at the Information Desk, one-on-one in research consultations, and one-to-many in library instruction and orientation.

I am here to help you in every way I can, so you are always welcome to contact me with any specific questions you may have or to make an appointment with me.

Besides serving at the Reference desk on a regular basis, I teach subject specific as well as general workshops on information skills and literature searching, and provide individual consultations and orientations to the engineering community.

I also supervise all aspects of the Library information literacy program.

School of Humanities & Social Science

Victoria CaplanVictoria Caplan (lbcaplan@ust.hk / 2358-6756)

I am the librarian responsible for liaising with the Division of Social Science. I enjoy helping students, instructors, and staff find answers to their questions, whether it is how to use a particular database, or how best to find sources on a broad subject.

I enjoy working with faculty members to tailor-make library workshops for particular courses, to help students complete their course projects. Please take a look at some of the course guides and subject guides that my colleague Wan Shan and I have made.

I wear other hats in the Library as well, which is why you can find me in my office in Reference. Stop by and say hello, or send me an email, or give me a call.
