Job Vacancies – Student Helpers

The Library is looking for students to fill the following vacancy:

1) Student Helper (Commons & Media Resources)


Part-time appointments.

Duties

Student helpers serve at Learning Commons (LC) and Media Resources to provide assistance to users, answer questions, maintain study environment and help in different projects.

Duration

  • Summer – 1 June to  31 August 2024
  • Term – mid-August 2024 to end of May 2025

Requirements

  • Able to schedule 6 to 17 hours per week during summer or semesters (including examination period) for duties, training, meetings
  • Flexible to work in early morning, late hours, weekends and public holidays

Salary

HK$65 per hour (10-17 hours/week)

2) Student Helper (Research & Learning Support – SPD) – Full-time/Part-time

Full-time/Part-time appointments from June to August 2024

Duties

  • Maintain HKUST Scholarly Publication Database (SPD) https://repository.hkust.edu.hk/ir
  • Create and update publication records
  • Verify bibliographic sources, de-dup records and identify name disambiguation

Highly Desirable Qualities

  • Good command of written & spoken English and Chinese.
  • Familiar with database searching
  • Capable of working independently and in a team.
  • Attention to detail and the willingness to learn

Duration

  • Full-time (39 hours/week; Monday-Friday)
  • Part-time (17 hours/week; Monday-Friday; 9:00am – 5:00pm)

Salary

  • Full-time: HK$10,915 per month
  • Part-time: HK$65 per hour
