Job Vacancies – Student Helpers

The Library is inviting applications for the following positions:


Student Helper (Access Services)

Part-time appointments from 1 June – 31 August 2025.

Duties

  • Provide service at G/F Service Counter or on library floors for other Access Services duties
  • Counter duties include checking out and checking in library materials, answering general enquiries, helping users to search books and tidying up at library closing
  • Access Services duties include shelving, shelf-reading, patrol, newspaper handling, LC helpdesk and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and team spirit
  • Strong sense of responsibility
  • Work regular hours weekly

Available working time slots

  • Mon-Fri: 9am-12noon
  • Sat: 9am-12noon / 4:15pm-7:15pm

Salary

HK$68 per hour (maximum 17 hours per week)

Student Helper (University Archives and Special Collections)

Part-time appointments from June – August 2025 (Summer term). Students from all years are welcome.

Duties

  • Monitor the Archives Office and KPS Gallery.
  • Assist with routine operational tasks, including answering walk-in enquiries, supporting users, monitoring the environmental conditions and taking care of dehumidifiers.
  • Assist with data input for collection processing and inventory stock-taking.
  • Assist with stack maintenance, reshelving and moving collection items.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as needed

Highly Desirable Qualities

  • Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality
  • Attention to detail and the willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel

Salary

HK$68 per hour (up to 17 hours per week)

Learning Commons Student Helpers (Access Services)

Part-time appointments from 1 September to 31 December 2025.

Duties

  • The student will work at the Learning Commons Helpdesk or on library floors for Access Services duties.
  • Helpdesk duties include providing assistance to users, answering general enquiries, maintaining the study environment, checking teaching venue equipment after events are completed, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, along with a strong sense of team spirit.
  • A strong sense of responsibility.
  • Availability to work regular hours weekly, including early morning, late hours, weekends and public holidays.

Salary

HK$68 per hour (max. 10 hours/week)
