We have rearranged some of the furniture on the ground floor, creating a new large study room towards the back and an expanded casual reading area near the entry gates.
The Library is always working to improve services and facilities for your use. Recently, we have been able to convert 3 more rooms into group studies!
Back in May, we added room LG4-02. And this week we rolled out LG3-04 and LG3-08! We still need to add some artwork to them, and the computer monitor in LG3-08 is a temporary one on the table – a proper 32″ wall-mounted monitor will be added later.
As part of the Library’s ongoing renovations, the various wiring conduits in the three Media and Discussion Rooms on LG1 need to be relocated. Unfortunately, this involves some very noisy work, as the contractor cuts the concrete walls for the new conduits.
This work is now scheduled for this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 8-9 November). We apologise for the noise – please be understanding as we work to improve the media rooms.
The 4 Media/Study Rooms on LG1 have recently been upgraded, with much larger televisions and with a networked PC for each room.
In addition to viewing items from the Media Resources collection, you can also connect your laptop to the VGA switchbox, and use the large screen for your own study groups.
The three larger rooms each now have a 55″ High Definition Television. The one smaller room is equipped with a 32″ model.
24″ LCD Computer Monitors have now been added to 8 of the group study rooms – with a VGA cable for you to connect your laptop!
Just plug in your PC, set it to mirror the signal, turn on the monitor, and share your screen with the rest of your group.
New Space for Teaching and Presentation
The IC Learning Space on Library Ground Floor is now available for
reservation. PGs, staff and faculty may use the room for presentation
and small group teaching.
The Learning Space is equipped with a touch-sensitive projection screen
and modular furniture for flexible group use. For more information
about the facility, visit the webpage:
Three of the larger group study rooms on LG3 have now been equipped with large white boards.
The three rooms are LG307, LG309 and LG317. As with all study rooms, they can be booked through the Library’s Room Reservation System.
Marking pens for the white boards can be borrowed from the IC Help Desk at the ground floor Information Commons – and from the Circulation Counter when the IC Help Desk is closed.
In order to combine a second project involving overhead duct replacements, the North end of LG1 will remain blocked off for an additional 2 months, until the end of January 2010.
The Library apologizes for the added inconvenience.
For details of the area involved, please refer to the post “Fall Term Construction and Disruption on LG1“.
