The HKUST Library is replacing all research carrels on LG3 and LG4 with new furniture. The initial preview samples are now available in the back of the Library G/F.
If you have time, please take a look and let us know what you think!
You can write your comments on the boards near the furniture, or you can fill out this

We have rearranged some of the furniture on the ground floor, creating a new large study room towards the back and an expanded casual reading area near the entry gates.

We need your comments on some furniture samples for the 1/F and LG1 renovations!
Please visit the furniture samples area on LG1 behind the Media Counter, and write your comments on the posted sheets of paper.
So far, we have several low and high chairs for you to evaluate. More furniture samples will be coming in a week or so, including a table or two.
The tables on LG4 at the bottom of the void – the ones with lights on them – have been modified.
The lights are now under your control, instead of being managed from the central switch box.
Each of those tables now has a light switch – so if you need a bit of extra light during the day, you can turn the light on.
Please remember to
turn the light off when you leave – saving energy is a task for all of us, working together.
The Library has added temporary seating for an additional 36 students to the back hallway on the First Floor (1/F).
These seats are available during the exam period from now until 21 December.

We’ll see how much it gets used, and decide whether to do this again in the Spring.
The remaining six outdoor study tables have been delivered and installed, including one wheelchair-accessible table on LG3. The furniture order for the six outdoor terraces on LG1, LG3 and LG4 is now complete.
We have also added one outdoor table to the decking area in the Library Garden on the ground floor. Now we need to know what you think about having more tables there. We need to balance the amount of open space with the number of tables.
The Library is starting to receive samples of furniture under consideration for the Learning Commons.
The furniture samples area is near the front of the Library, around the corner from the Reference Desk.
This morning, most of the new furniture in the LG4 extension was opened for your use! This includes sofa chairs along the windows, and “Y”-shaped study carrels throughout, with seating for another 90 users.
