You can print to the networked copier in the Information Commons from any Windows or Macintosh computer. All you have to do is download and install the driver for the printer.
Visit the Wireless Printing section of the IC’s Printing page for the driver download links and other details.

As part of the space planning for 334, the Library has been working
towards building a student-oriented Learning Commons where it will
bring together services and facilities to support learning and teaching
at the University. The LC will provide a variety of learning and study
spaces as well as an e-learning Lab and a refreshment zone. Services
will be provided in a way that builds on the strength of various
academic support units, including Center for Enhanced Learning and
Teaching (CELT), Information Technology Services Center (ITSC), Language
Centre, Library, Publishing Technology Center (PTC) and Student Affairs
Office (SAO). While the Library is actively working with FMO and the
design firm on the layout plans and furniture options, we would very
much like to hear your views and expectations about this new learning hub.
After a couple years of trying, the Library pleased to announce that we now have an Octopus machine at the main Circulation Counter.
You can now choose to pay your fines using your Octopus card, instead of cash – a service which has been requested by many users.
The 4 Media/Study Rooms on LG1 have recently been upgraded, with much larger televisions and with a networked PC for each room.
In addition to viewing items from the Media Resources collection, you can also connect your laptop to the VGA switchbox, and use the large screen for your own study groups.
The three larger rooms each now have a 55″ High Definition Television. The one smaller room is equipped with a 32″ model.
As of this week, all of the Library’s group study rooms have a white board!
Marking pens for the white boards can be borrowed from the IC Help Desk at the ground floor Information Commons – and from the Circulation Counter when the IC Help Desk is closed.
The two microform printers in Media Resources have now been upgraded to newer models, with better clarity, and more features.
The new machines can both print and scan all formats of microfilm and microfiche in our collection.
Best of all, you can now print microforms to A3 paper! This is especially useful for printing newspaper and tabloid content.
At your request, the Ground Floor drinking fountain has now been replaced with a hot and cold water fountain.
Just press on the lever and hot water will be dispensed into your cup. The temperature is currently set to 60o Celsius. Let us know if you find it too hot or too cold.
Last year, we reported that as part of space planning for the 3-3-4 migration, the Library proposed converting most of the current LG1 floor into a 24-hour-capable expanded Learning Commons environment, as part of a swapping arrangement involving the provision of space in the building expansion.

New Space for Teaching and Presentation
***************************************
The IC Learning Space on Library Ground Floor is now available for
reservation. PGs, staff and faculty may use the room for presentation
and small group teaching.
The Learning Space is equipped with a touch-sensitive projection screen
and modular furniture for flexible group use. For more information
about the facility, visit the webpage:

Three of the larger group study rooms on LG3 have now been equipped with large white boards.
The three rooms are LG307, LG309 and LG317. As with all study rooms, they can be booked through the Library’s Room Reservation System.
Marking pens for the white boards can be borrowed from the IC Help Desk at the ground floor Information Commons – and from the Circulation Counter when the IC Help Desk is closed.
As part of the Library’s efforts to provide power sockets for users, over 70 additional power sockets have been added along walls on LG3 and LG4.
Areas marked in red on these maps show where wall-mounted power sockets have been added:
The Library will keep working to add additional power sockets, especially along walls for study carrels on LG4.
In order to combine a second project involving overhead duct replacements, the North end of LG1 will remain blocked off for an additional 2 months, until the end of January 2010.
The Library apologizes for the added inconvenience.
For details of the area involved, please refer to the post “Fall Term Construction and Disruption on LG1“.
