Silent Dance Party is Not Silent

We note that some students are planning another so-called “Silent Dance Party”.

Last year, the Library received complaints about this activity from students studying in the Library at the time.  We also saw that some of the participants danced on tables, which presented a danger to the dancers, people near-by, and the facilities.

Library staff members work to help make the Library and Learning Commons a place conducive to learning & research. We ask all students to help maintain a quiet study atmosphere. This activity would disrupt this atmosphere.

If the dance party does happen, Library staff will be on hand to ask people to come down from tables and to maintain the “silent” part of the activity. Our staff will also be available in case of problems or injuries.
