Call for Papers

Papers are now invited on the four major themes of the Conference.

Potential presenters should send a 500-word maximum abstract of their presentation together with a brief biography of not more than 200 words to 2016 Academic Librarian Conference at AL4@ust.hk by 16 October 2015. The Conference Organizing Committee will notify presenters by 20 November 2015 if their papers are chosen. All presentations will be delivered in English in 20-25 minutes. Final papers must be submitted to the Conference Organizing Committee by 18 April 2016.

Abstract Submission Procedure
  • Fill in the Paper Proposal Submission Form.
  • Include the title of the paper, names of all authors, affiliated institutions, positions and email addresses or other contact information.
  • An abstract of the paper in English should be a maximum of 500 words.
  • All papers submitted must be original works, which have not been presented in any conference or published in any publication before.
  • Submit the Paper Proposal Submission Form by email attachment to AL4@ust.hk. Specify “AL4 2016 Paper Proposal Submission” in the email subject heading.
  • Deadline for abstract and brief biography submission: 16 October 2015.
  • Notification of acceptance: 20 November 2015.
Accepted Paper Submission Procedure
  • A paper in English should not exceed 6,000 words. Please follow the Author Guidelines from the journal Library Management.
  • Submit by email attachment to AL4@ust.hk. Specify “AL4 2016 Final Paper” in the email subject heading.
  • Deadline of accepted paper submission: 18 April 2016.
  • Submit presentation PowerPoint file by email attachment to AL4@ust.hk by 13 May 2016.
Responsibilities of Authors
  • Register for and attend the Conference.
  • Present the paper in English in about 25 minutes maximum.
  • Grant permission for possible audio and video recording, web broadcast, and archiving in CUHK/HKUST Institutional Repository.
  • Assign rights to the Conference Organizers as all papers will be disseminated to all participants in the Conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed papers may be published in the journal Library Management.
  • Provide completed papers in electronic version by the deadline, 18 April 2016.
Selection Criteria
All proposals will be reviewed by a Panel according to set criteria. Among the most important selection criteria are relevancy to the conference themes, innovative and challenging aspects, originality and clarity. Applicants will be notified about the acceptance or rejection of their papers by 20 November 2015.
