Job Vacancies – Student Helpers

The Library is looking for students to fill vacancies in different Library units:

  • Part-time appointments from February to May 2019

1. Student Helper (Administration)


Duties

  • Input data and compile statistics
  • Assist in the logistics and running of library events
  • General office duties including scanning, filing, photo-taking, etc.
  • Translation and editing work
  • Poster/Web page design and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Good command of Chinese and English
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel and Word
  • Meticulous and detail oriented
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Interest in design and have knowledge in web authoring tools such as WordPress is an advantage

Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of the hiring period, the appointees should be able to:

  • acquire generic workplace skills in a university library administration office setting particularly on events management
  • develop organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • learn effective ways of solving problems

Salary

HK$56 per hour (up to 10 hours/week)

2. E-Learning Production Assistant


The appointee will work with the E-Learning Team to create interactive e-learning videos and games (http://lbcone.ust.hk/elearning/) and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good computer skills + Good command of written & spoken English
  • Ability to work independently & as part of a team
  • Good sense of humor & good graphical sense (layout, colors, etc.)
  • Experience in graphic design tools (e.g. Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator)
  • Experience in & knowledge of popular e-video & gaming software (e.g. Adobe Captivate, HTML5)

Salary

HK$56 per hour (up to 10 hours/week)

Start Date: February 1, 2019

3. Student Helper (Access Services)


Duties

  • Provide service at Circulation & Reserve Counter. Duties include checking out and checking in library materials, answering general enquiries, helping users to search books and tidying up at library closing
  • Perform stacks duties, including shelving books and periodicals, shelf-reading, handling newspapers and patrolling
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and team spirit
  • Strong sense of responsibility
  • Work regular hours weekly

Available working time slots

  • Mon-Fri: 9am – 12noon / 2pm – 5pm / 9:30pm – 11:30pm
  • Sat: 9am – 1pm / 1pm – 5pm / 5:30pm – 9:30pm / 7:30pm – 9:30pm
  • Sun: 10am – 2pm / 1pm – 5pm / 6:30pm – 9:30pm / 7:30pm – 9:30pm

Salary

HK$56 per hour (up to 10 hours/week)
