As a public-funded institution, the Library seeks to benefit scholars both within or outside of the University community. However, licensing restrictions in some cases may prevent the sharing of databases with non-HKUST members. The Library's primary commitment is to HKUST students, faculty and staff. When space, collections or services are overburdened, the Library reserves the right to restrict the use of materials, services and facilities.
Non-HKUST people who wish to have borrowing rights and other privileges to Library resources may apply for a library card for a fee. The Library may reject unsuitable applications.
Primary and secondary school students who are not affiliated with HKUST are not allowed to use the Library as a study space.
The Library will check identification during times of high use. You may look at the Library Hours page to see if the restriction notice is up.
The Library is a place for research and study. All users should respect this and help maintain a quiet environment.
Visits of non-professional groups are limited to the Gallery area and should not go beyond the security gate.
In exceptional cases, tours conducted by library staff can be arranged through the Library Administration Office at 2358-6702.
