Rooms for Reservation

General Rules

Reservation Rules

  1. The rooms are for group use. Each group can book up to 3 hours per session, one session per day, two sessions per week, all rooms combined.
  2. Reservation may be made on the same day or at most one month in advance. Except for the Classroom, rooms that are not reserved are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
  3. Groups that are 10 minutes late or leave a room vacant for 10 minutes may lose the right to use the room.

These rules apply to Study Rooms, Seminar and Presentation Rooms, Media and Discussion Rooms and Classroom.

Study Rooms

Study rooms for group discussion are located throughout the Library. Reserve online via the Room Booking System:

Seminar & Presentation Rooms

The Seminar and Presentation Rooms are part of the Information Commons. Make reservation via the Room Booking System:

  • LG1 (20 persons) room information

Media & Discussion Rooms

Four rooms are available in Media Resources on LG1 for group viewing of media materials and discussion:

Faculty Studies

Study rooms are available for faculty members who need a workspace in the Library. They can be reserved for up to two weeks, renewable subject to availability. Each room is equipped with a desk, a chair, and shelves; some have networked PCs. Wireless access to the Internet is supported.

Make reservations at the Reference Counter.

Classroom

The Classroom on LG1 accommodates 70 persons. It is equipped with:

  • a computer
  • a projector
  • an overhead projector (for transparencies)
  • a visualizer
  • a VHS player
  • a laser disc player
  • whiteboards

The classroom is mainly for library instruction programs; faculty and staff may also use it for teaching. Users should ask for the key at the Reference Counter.

Computer Laboratory

The Library Computer Laboratory on LG1 is where most library instruction classes are conducted. There are 38 computers with Internet access and productivity software such as Microsoft Office applications. The instructor station is equipped with an overhead data projector, and two monitors to facilitate presentation in classes.

Students may use the Lab when it is not reserved. Faculty may also reserve the Lab for teaching at the Reference Counter.
