HKUST Library offers orientation programs and library classes for students and staff to help them become acquainted with pertinent information sources in their disciplines, use the tools effectively, and to refine their information literacy skills.

The Library instruction program is composed of:

• Orientation in August and September - for new UG students and new PG students.
• Open Workshops for all HKUST members.
• Course Specific Classes introducing information skills for particular courses. Faculty may request library sessions tailor-made for their courses by contacting the Information Literacy Manager or the Subject Librarians.
• Subject Specific PG workshops
• Information Literacy Tutorial - an interactive, self-learning tutorial accessible via the Web.
• Guides to Library Resources: Course guides are prepared for library classes supporting specific courses. Subject guides list resources on topics related to the university's curriculum or research. Database guides highlight important features of some heavily used or complex databases.
