BASE: Bielefeld Academic Search Engine

A multi-disciplinary search engine for academically relevant web resources created by Bielefeld University Library in Germany. It indexes over 21 million academic documents from worldwide sources. The Advanced Search allows users to limit results by document format such as videos and primary data. Its Eurovoc Thesaurus can search for terms and synonyms in 21 languages, which is useful for retrieving documents from repositories in different countries.

CiteSeerX: Scientific Literature Digital Library and Search Engine

Indexes over 750,000 full-text documents, primarily on computer and information science. Other useful CiteSeer features includes citation analysis, reference linking, awareness tracking, and more. It also provides algorithms, techniques and software to be used by digital libraries.

Faceted DBLP (Digital Bibliography & Library Project)

Indexes more than one million articles published in major computer science journals and proceedings and contains over 10,000 links to home pages of computer scientists. Access to full-text in external databases such as ACM Portal and IEEE Xplore is limited to subscribers only.

Searches over 200 million science-specific Web pages for scientific, scholarly, technical and medical data, including peer-reviewed articles, patents, preprints, technical reports, etc. Incorporates both subscription and open access full text scholarly literature, e.g. arXiv.org, BioMed Central, Cogprints, govt. patent servers, Medline, NASA technical reports, etc.
