GREAT MINDS Michael Faraday (1791-1867) Michael Faraday was an English chemist and physicist who contributed significantly to the fields of electricity and magnetism. He was the first to report induction of an electric current from a magnetic field. He invented the first electric motor and dynamo, discovered the effect of magnetism on light as well as diamagnetism, the peculiar behaviour of certain substances in strong magnetic fields.
