The Strategic Goals for 2012-2014 is the collaborative output of the Library Staff Retreat held in July 2012. It provides a framework of directions in which many new initiatives with action plans and timelines have been developed. In alignment with the strategic priorities of the University, this plan will guide Library staff on the development and implementation of projects and programs; and in delivering responsive and high-quality services in support of learning, teaching and research at HKUST.
Enhance collection resources and strengths to support the academic and research priorities of the University and 334 curricular changes
Increase instructional efforts to help students build information literacy competency and learning capacity
Enrich research support services, in particular the RAE 2014; and promote awareness of scholarly communications
Develop and adopt more effective information access, retrieval and discovery systems
Advance and manage the Information Commons and Learning Commons that centralize learning and foster collaboration
Improve and maintain an inspiring physical place for study, research, enrichment, and collaboration
Encourage the use and circulation of collection and expand document delivery services to cover more types of materials and benefit more users
Implement the new unified cataloging standard, Resource Description and Access (RDA), to meet international trend and standard
Strengthen user communications on library resources and services through outreach, surveys, patron engagement and general education activities
Partner strategically with stakeholders and collaborate with academic libraries in achieving scholarship and attaining learning outcomes
Equip staff with appropriate expertise and skills to deliver services; encourage staff development and further promote team effectiveness
