HKUST Library Collections

A prestigious book award in Taiwan, winning works of 中國時報開卷好書獎 are grouped into categories to suit different age groups and interests of readers. The Library generally acquires works under Creative Chinese Writing (中文創作).

Established in 1972, this award honors the best emerging talents in creative Chinese writing. The organizing committee consists of student representatives from HKU and CUHK.

Jointly organized by RTHK, Hong Kong Public Libraries and Hong Kong Publishing Federation, the Hong Kong Book Prize was started in 2007.

A relatively new award introduced in 2008, the Young Writers' Debut Competition is organized by the Shun Hung Kei Properties and Joint Publishing to cultivate local talents.

The Arthur C. Clarke Award is the premiere prize for science fiction in Britain.

The Nebula Awards are voted on and presented by active members of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. The organization now has over 1,500 members, among them many of today's leading writers of science fiction and fantasy.

The Library looks out for listings of 10 Best in major newspapers and magazines around the world, including New York Times 10 Best Books and Time Top Ten Everything.

The history of this world-renowned award goes back to 1917. It was established to honor excellence in journalism and the arts. The Library collects the winning works of the Pulitzer's Prize for Fiction and General Non-Fiction.
