Job Vacancies in the Library


The Library is inviting applications from current HKUST students for the following Summer Intern positions:

(1) Web Development Assistant (Full-time)

The student is required to develop an interactive feedback system for audience and artists to communicate and give comments during exhibitions, via a web interface. Major features of the system include: browsing of artworks, exhibits and/or poems; a discussion forum; public voting and ranking of votes; and membership registration. The website developed must be desktop and mobile capable, as iPads or other tablets will be used for sending comments in the exhibition venues. The appointment will be for 3 months from 1 June to 31 August 2012.

Applicants are required to have experience in developing web application, preferably using PHP, MySQL, Apache, jQuery and XML; knowledge in graphic manipulation and design; a creative mind and be user-oriented.

Salary

$8,505 per month

(2) E-Learning Assistants (Full-time/Part-time)

The students will be required to

  • Develop e-learning objects (video, interactive Flash, ppt and PDF lessons over text) on using the Library, Information Commons and Learning Commons facilities and equipment.


  • Develop e-learning tools such as those offering learning scenarios, training, tutorials, worksheets and interactive exercises on information literacy skills, databases and e-resources.

Appointments will be for 3 months from 1 June to 31 August 2012.


Applicants are required to have:

  • Good computer skills
  • Previous experience with the design, production, and content management of e-learning materials will be advantageous
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with using popular e-learning tools (e.g. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Captivate, and Camtasia Studio)
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary

  • Full-time internship: $8,505 per month
  • Part-time internship: $50 per hour (Applicants are required to work for about 60 hours per month)
