The Library welcomes gifts of books and other materials. Materials that are of good physical condition
and support the teaching and research programs of the university will be gladly accepted.
Examples of Materials in Need
- Materials that are academic in nature, or fit the teaching
and research interests of the University community
- Books or other materials authored by HKUST faculty
- Conference proceedings or other materials published by the University
- Journals that fill gaps in Library's holdings
- Duplicate copies of books that are heavily used
- Books that can strengthen our History of Science collection
- Materials of non-academic subjects that support general education
Conditions of Acceptance
- The Library reserves the right to dispose of gifts not taken into the collection or to forward them to another library.
- Acknowledgment for small number of items will be given at the request of the donor.
Large Volume of Donation
- To help the Library check against duplicates and assess relevance, donors are encouraged to prepare a title list with
bibliographic details such as author, title, edition, publisher and publication year.
- By special arrangements, the Library may pick up the gift items in bulk
from the donors.
- When appropriate, a bookplate will be affixed on each of the donated items as a token of appreciation.
