The Library has replaced the older 3D printer with a new one. Printing quality and success rate is better. Come and try it out: http://library.ust.hk/serv/3d/
The Library is always working to improve services and facilities for your use. Recently, we have been able to convert 3 more rooms into group studies!
Back in May, we added room LG4-02. And this week we rolled out LG3-04 and LG3-08! We still need to add some artwork to them, and the computer monitor in LG3-08 is a temporary one on the table – a proper 32″ wall-mounted monitor will be added later.
The Library closes on September 3, and the Learning Commons will remain open as usual.
Starting September 1st, the Learning Commons will stay open 24 hours a day.
After the Library closes at 11pm, please use your HKUST card to access the LC via the LG1 entrance.
As the Library enters Summer Break hours, the Learning Commons opens on Sundays from 10am to 7pm with card access control. Use your HKUST card to enter the LC on LG1.
If your card supports “contactless” operation, simply place the card on top of the reader to enter.
This week, the Library was able to extend the overnight study space to include all of LG1. The plan is to try this out for the study and exam weeks to reduce the pressure on the existing 24-hour LC space. We are able to do so through a lot of work and planning by Library staff, and with the help of University administration and support from FMO.
Sadly, some students abused this change, and they made a big mess in one of the Media Viewing rooms.
The Media and Microforms area on LG1 is now open 24-hour until May 29. Other floors close according to Library Hours
Starting March 25, you need your HKUST card to enter LC all the time. Please bring your cards.

During the past Winter Break, the Library finished off the Learning Space Enhancement Project and expanded services. What’s changed?
Welcome back to HKUST for Spring Term! We hope you had a good winter break. We were very busy over this period, finishing off the Library Learning Space Enhancement Project and expanding services.
As part of the Library’s ongoing renovations, the various wiring conduits in the three Media and Discussion Rooms on LG1 need to be relocated. Unfortunately, this involves some very noisy work, as the contractor cuts the concrete walls for the new conduits.
This work is now scheduled for this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 8-9 November). We apologise for the noise – please be understanding as we work to improve the media rooms.
We need your comments on some furniture samples for the 1/F and LG1 renovations!
Please visit the furniture samples area on LG1 behind the Media Counter, and write your comments on the posted sheets of paper.
So far, we have several low and high chairs for you to evaluate. More furniture samples will be coming in a week or so, including a table or two.
All of 1/F, and part of LG1 will undergo some renovation during the next couple months.
We will work with the contractors to reduce the disturbance, especially as the exam period approaches.
Please be understanding as we work to improve the Library’s study environments.
