1. Lindsay, James M. “The top 10 anniversaries of 2017,”
Anniversaries mark the passage of time, recall our triumphs and honor our losses. 2016 witnessed many significant historical anniversaries: the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the 50th anniversary of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and the 25th anniversary of the Gulf War, to name a few. 2017 will also see anniversaries of many significant events in world history.
2. “How Japan went crazy for KitKats,”
Have a break, have a KitKat. What flavor would you prefer? Wasabi, lemon vinegar, pumpkin pudding, green tea, Shinshu apple, adzuki bean sandwich… More than 300 flavors of KitKat have gone on sale in Japan since the chocolate snack was introduced. It’s now one of the country’s best-loved candy bars.
Time travel : a history / James Gleick
Gleick tracks the evolution of time travel as an idea in the culture–from Marcel Proust to Doctor Who, from Woody Allen to Jorge Luis Borges. He explores the inevitable looping paradoxes and examines the porous boundary between pulp fiction and modern physics.
Featuring artefacts, special effects film sequences, and interviews with professionals, the exhibition unveils the evolution of visual tricks in Hong Kong cinema. Interactive multimedia installations are set up at the venue for visitors to experience the magic and fun of special effects tricks. Students of the Hong Kong Design Institute also digitally re-create hand-crafted special effects scenes from old Hong Kong films.
We welcome your feedback on this service.
